FAQs

What is sugaring?

Sugaring is a hair removal method that uses a paste made of sugar, lemon &

water. That’s it! It’s all natural, gentle on the skin, environmentally friendly, and

can be more gentle than waxing.

How does it work?

The paste is applied against the direction of hair growth. The paste is then

removed in the direction of growth using quick flicking motions.

What are the benefits?

Less breakage: The hair is removed in the direction of hair growth, which can

help prevent hair breakage, therefore preventing ingrowns, and pulling the hair

from the root, which leads to thinner more refined hair.

Exfoliation: Sugaring removes dead skin cells, leaving the skin smooth.

Gentle: Sugaring is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, and safe for sensitive skin.

Does sugaring hurt?

I like to say, any kind of hair removal is going to be a bit uncomfortable, but a

lot of people find sugaring to be less painful than traditional waxing because

the sugar paste only sticks to the hair and not the skin, causing less irritation.

If it’s your first time being sugared, there might be some mild discomfort, but

usually the pain levels go down after each session because the hair is

becoming thinner and more sparse.

What is the difference between sugaring and waxing?

Sugar paste is made from all natural ingredients, and has no dyes or

chemicals that cause skin irritation. Sugar only removes dead skin cells,

whereas wax removes live and dead skin cells, leaving the skin more

susceptible to sun damage, irritation, and bacteria.

What are the contraindications for sugaring?

Sunburn, blisters, open sores, and the use of Accutane, antibiotics, and retinol.
